Floral waters – affordable and fresh organic skin care

Floral waters have been valued since ancient times for their skin care properties and continue to be used in natural cosmetics, perfumery, aromatherapy and cooking. They maintain the health and immunity of the skin, have an anti-inflammatory, soothing effect, moisturize and regulate sebum secretion. They contain essential oil from the plant from which they are distilled, but the concentration is less, making floral waters safer to use. Their application is versatile – they can be used by adults, as well as children and babies.

In Bulgaria, the most popular floral waters are distilled from the traditional essential oil-bearing plants – rose, lavender and chamomile, but also popular are the floral waters from salvia sclarea, melisa, zdravets (specific geranium variety), etc. In Western Europe, the most preferred floral water is from orange blossom (neroli), which is used not only in cosmetics, but also in confectionery, especially in France and the Mediterranean.

Floral waters, also known as hydrosols, are obtained by distillation and contain all water-soluble substances from the – often times – medicinal plants from which they are extracted. The greater the amount of essential oil contained in them, the more concentrated the aroma of the water and, accordingly, its beneficial properties.

How to choose floral water

It is important to make sure that the floral water is 100% natural and does not contain alcohol or other chemicals and preservatives that, in addition to not hydrating, can dry out the skin.

It is preferable that floral waters are stored in opaque or dark glass bottles that protect the active ingredients from light and do not contain the potentially dangerous substances of plastic packaging.

Application of floral waters

Cleansing – use daily for cleansing the face, neck and décolleté.

Chamomile floral water

• Evening ritual for tired eyes – place cotton pads soaked in Clary Sage floral water for 15-20 minutes on closed eyes. The procedure has a muscle-relaxing effect and prevents swelling in the eye area.
• Use Clary Sage floral water to care for your hair. Spray the ends of dry and damaged hair – the water will hydrate and vitalize it. Apply along the length of the hair and you will improve its vitality. Applied to the scalp it regulates the secretion of sebum and the greasiness of the hair.

Mattifying toner Eleina with rose floral water, castor oil and CO2 rose extract gently cleans pores and removes excess sebum. It is suitable for oily skin types. Perfectly cleanses the skin of the face. It has a light texture and an enchanting aroma of a Bulgarian rose. Refreshes and improves skin protection without drying.

• In the evening before cleansing the face with Eleina tonic, remove your makeup, rinse thoroughly with water and then wipe. Use water that is neither too hot nor too cold.
