Mosquitoes and other stinging insects often ruin our summer outdoor experiences. We offer you ideas on how to deal with them with completely natural means using essential oils. They are a great alternative to mainstream products with synthetic chemicals that can be toxic.

Essential oils have active ingredients that repel insects. For example, geraniol in the composition of geranium oil is known for its insecticidal and repellent properties – it suffocates, dehydrates and destroys the chitinous shell, as well as the eggs and larvae of insects. Linalool, an active component of lavender oil, has a powerful insecticidal and antiparasitic effect.

2 drops Chamomile essential oil

2 drops of Peppermint essential oil

Lavender essential oil

Effectively repels insects and at the same time has antiseptic and soothing properties for bites. It has an anti-inflammatory effect and soothes skin irritation. Accelerates healing processes thanks to the active ingredient – linalool with natural bactericidal and disinfecting properties.

Lavender floral water

It has a regenerating effect and supports faster healing of the skin in case of inflammation from insect bites.

Peppermint essential oil

Its strong aroma successfully repels biting and stinging insects. It also works successfully on crawling insects such as ants, spiders and ticks. To do this, drop peppermint oil on a cloth or cotton and place it on the affected areas.

Thanks to the cooling action of the main ingredient Menthol, it brings relief to the affected areas of the skin. Effectively numbs bites and has a refreshing effect.

Not recommended for babies and small children due to high menthol content.

Chamomile essential oil

It has a calming, anti-inflammatory and immunostimulating effect. The powerful antiseptic effect relieves inflammation from insect bites and stings. Soothes itching and redness of the affected areas.

Calendula oil extract

It has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory effect and helps restore epithelial tissues. Improves skin hydration and is a proven antioxidant.

We recommend using essential oils that are 100% natural and from a certified manufacturer with good manufacturing practices.

If you are pregnant or have children and pets, be especially careful with the use of essential oils. See our safety recommendations in the article – How to apply essential oils safely>.
